Myanmar Southern Region(Myeik)

The Myeik archipelago is situated on the southern Taninthayi Division of Myanmar (formerly called Tennesarim coast), above 800
spotted islands ,can be accessed by air and by land from Yangon .

Tin mines, oil palm & rubber plantation and evergreen forest on the mainland and islands scattered across the blue sea along
the coast. Kawthaung is only separated from Thailand by a broad estuary in the Pakchan River near Victoria point.

             On the Andaman Sea, Pearl breeding and fishing beds as the traditional business along the coast. A coastal tribe known by various
names Chaunam (Water folk) by the Thai, Moken by themselves and Salone by Myanmar who adopt their way of life as marine
nomads, hence expert in swimming, diving and submerging in the sea deserve the title of “Men of the Sea”.
