Pyay is located 5 hr driving north of Yangon. Sri Ksetra, Center of Administration of a Pyu Kingdom, is one of 3 World Heritage Sites (enlisted in 2014) of Pyu Ancient Cities in Myanmar.

It is located 5 mile south east of Pyay. Pyu culture & its civilization can be dated back to 2 Century B.C., reached its peak in 7-9 Century A.D. Pyu civilization is reputed by its massive circular or almost rectangular small walled cities with huge and solid stupas (similar to those of Sri Lanka and Sanchi Stupa of India), excavated palace site and burial urns. The rest 2 ancient Pyu cities enlisted are Beikthano, 130 km north of Pyay and Halin (129 km north west of Mandalay), the distance between Beikthano (Visnu) city and Halin is about 270 km.
